One of my favorite parts of Blizzard’s packed Overwatch 2 presentation at BlizzCon was a brief look at the weather effects that will likely be used in the player vs. environment hero missions. There was a peek at sandstorms in Temple of Anubis and the Petra deathmatch map, as well as (fittingly) a blizzard in what appeared to be Toronto.

We’ve gotten a glimpse of these effects in the past with the rain and lightning storm during the Storm Rising Archives event. I’m glad that Blizzard is continuing to build on the idea. The effects look fantastic, and with the upgraded engine Blizzard is bringing in for the sequel, they should make hero missions feel alive and dynamic. Seriously, watch those trees sway dramatically in the blizzard:
